At Carolina Plumbing & Repair, our plumbing company has been in business since 1980, and we have provided our services to many different customers over the years. We have also seen many of the common mistakes they make when it comes to their plumbing systems, and we want to help you to avoid them in the future.
Here are three things that we and many other plumbing companies would like for you to know:
- Not everything is a plumbing emergency- It’s certainly better to overestimate than underestimate how severe a plumbing problem is. However, some problems that may look like emergencies can be saved until morning and save you a significant amount of money. For instance, if you have a leak, use the shut-off valve to stop the water supply until your plumber arrives the next day.
- Don’t flush items that shouldn’t go in the toilet- If all plumbing companies have anything in common, it’s probably that they want you to know what you can and can’t flush. You really shouldn’t be flushing anything besides human waste and toilet paper. Other items like paper towels, baby wipes, or menstrual products belong in the trash because they could create a blockage that you can’t deal with on your own.
- Be careful about where you drill holes in the wall- Most plumbing companies prefer that you avoid a disaster. So whether you’re hanging up wall art or mounting a TV, you should always find out what’s behind the wall before you start drilling. Otherwise, you could hit a pipe and cause water to flood into your house.
