Here at Carolina Plumbing & Repair, we want to help you do what’s best for your home or business, and a key step for maintaining each type of structure is to hire the right kind of plumber. Residential and commercial plumbing systems have some key differences, and a plumber that specializes in one won’t always have the right experience to work on the other. Our team has extensive experience in both residential and commercial plumbing, and in this article, we’ll be going over some of the differences between each type so that you understand which plumber to call.
- Daily Usage- One key difference between residential and commercial plumbing lies in the amount of daily usage each system is subjected to. A residential plumbing system is designed to serve just a handful of people at a time, and so doesn’t need to withstand heavy use every day. A commercial plumbing system, on the other hand, needs to be able to keep up with the demands of hundreds or even thousands of people, and therefore has much higher daily usage requirements.
- Complexity- Another thing that sets residential and commercial plumbing systems apart is their complexity. Residential plumbing, because it only serves a handful of people, is less complex than commercial plumbing, which has to serve many more.
- Potential for Damage- Lastly, residential plumbing tends to have less potential for damage than commercial plumbing. Think about it–a burst pipe in a private home, while definitely a serious problem for the residents, will only affect those living in that home. A burst pipe in a commercial building, on the other hand, has the potential to affect not just the people associated with that business, but also everyone else who uses that building.
