At Carolina Plumbing & Repair, we offer a variety of plumbing services for your home or business. And while most of the plumbing problems you face won’t be urgent, there are times when you might not be able to wait for repairs due to the severity of the problem. But how do you know whether your plumbing issue constitutes an emergency?
Here are a few things that indicate when you need emergency plumbing repair:
- You can’t turn the water off- If your toilet or sink is leaking, you don’t always need emergency plumbing. Instead of paying the more expensive emergency rates, you can often use the shut-off valves located on the fixtures to stop the water. Or if there’s a more serious issue like a burst pipe, you may be able to shut off the main water valve. If you can’t locate it, or you aren’t able to turn it because the valve is stuck, go ahead and call for emergency plumbing.
- Your water heater is leaking- A leaking water heater is an urgent problem because it can cause water damage that’s expensive to fix. In the worst-case scenario, a leaking water heater could be a sign that the pressure inside the water heater is too high, potentially leading to an explosion. This is rare, but it may still be worth it to call for emergency plumbing.
- You don’t have running water- If you turn on the tap and nothing comes out, but you know the issue isn’t caused by the city, you may want to call for emergency plumbing. After all, you need water in your home, and you might not be able to wait long to have it.
